Knickers Dinner Theatre

Knickers! A Brief Comedy is a Canadian play written by ex-Brit Sarah Quick, who now lives in Ontario, Canada.

Trained at the University of Wales, Sarah obtained a BA (Hons) degree in Drama along with certificates in acting from the London College of Music and The Guildhall. In 1999 she formed Quick Change Theatre and toured throughout Canada, Ireland, England, the U.S. and Australia with her self-penned works ‘Thanks for the Mammaries’, ‘Sex and Sensibility’, ‘The Men Commandments’, ‘Do You Take This Man?’ and ‘B4 & After’.

Sarah has now written a total of eight plays for mainstream audiences including her "Canadian Trilogy" which is made up of Knickers!, Having Relations, and Sunshine Express. Sarah has written for younger audiences too. Her pantomime scripts have entertained thousands of children.

Set in Canada, Knickers! A Brief Comedy is "a completely different experience than writing British comedy." The idea for the play came after a mill closed in northern Ontario, so the play has local flavour, and it is easy to relate to, and laugh at. The characters are real - not only the four key characters but also the townspeople. "They are the sort of characters you need to ‘rally the town’. They're not sure what to do, but they're strong and loyal.” “It's funny and hopeful," says the author.

And "It's a great night out for the girls," she says. "But if men wanted to find out what women talk about, men should come too!" she suggests.
